Nesting Workshop and Nesting App Open House
March 15, 2024
Workshop Time: 3:00 – 6:00 pm
Open House Time: 6:00 – 7:00 pm
The FWC Fish and Wildlife Research Institute's Marine Turtle Program invites principal permit holders and their volunteers to attend the annual in-person training workshop. The workshop is an opportunity to introduce and review standards for surveying Florida beaches for sea turtle nesting activity. The workshop will cover survey methodology, species identification, crawl identification, and data reporting requirements for the Statewide Nesting Beach Survey (SNBS), Index Nesting Beach Survey (INBS) and Nest Productivity Assessment (NPA) programs as well as an overview of the FWC nesting app to use for reporting 2024 NPA data. The workshop will satisfy the annual training requirement; the same workshop will be offered via webinars in the spring. A nesting app open house session will immediately follow the workshop and will allow users to view and test the app at their own pace.
